The Werewere kōkako mushroom’s Latin name is“Entoloma Hochstetteri” but is more

commonly known as the “Blue pinkgill mushroom”.

This species of mushroom is native to New Zealand and found in forests in both the North and South Islands.

The small fungi are a distinctive all-blue colour, while the gills have a slight reddish tint from the spores.

Look them up they are a beautiful part of Aotearoa's native bush!
